An Advanced Approach to Family Governance, Leadership and Succession
“Leading from the heart of the family,
not just the head of the table.”
Most leading families who are able to preserve their family wealth and harmony across generations have a structured approach to family governance, leadership and succession.
This course takes you through proven insights and practical lessons to help you define and implement a unique approach to these fundamental matters, addressing the core elements of family organization and leadership and incorporating both the ”hard” factors, such as formal governance structures, with ”soft” factors relating to family culture, relationships and individual family members.
Managing Generational Transitions and Leadership Succession is one of the greatest challenges that any family will face.
Based on modern family patterns, generational transitions usually take place every 30 years or so. Leadership successions can take place at any time, whether planned or unplanned. Family leaders should follow best practices to manage these changes. Best practices include planning activities before, during and after the transition or succession. The “hard” and “soft” issues should be addressed throughout the process.
Establishing a firm foundation of governance, leadership and family communications before a change initiative also improves the likelihood of success.
This Master Class will give you the insights and tools to plan and implement these two substantial change management initiatives. Learn how to gauge family member strengths, weaknesses, aspirations and expectations. Learn how to facilitate transparent communication and active listening. Explore meritocratic and rotating approaches to key role assignments.
Objectives
Most leading families who preserve their family wealth and harmony across generations have a carefully structured approach to family governance, and a well thought out approach to family leadership and succession.
This course will take you through a proven set of insights and practical lessons that can help you to define and implement your own unique approach to these fundamentally important matters.
